Poor Ed. He told his life so many times how he fantasized about how he envied her childhood. Dressing up, hanging out at the mall, pajama parties. He fantasized about how much fun it would be.
His wife decided that he should know how it really was for her. A fancy girl's prep school. Latin, French, math, lots of homework. If his/her grades were bad, homework undone, rules not followed, there would be a trip to the vice-principal's office for a taste of the strap.
He was enrolled as a sophomore, so he had two plus years. After his second trip, to the vice-principal, he decided that he had better be a good girl.
